One day some parents brought their little children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But when the disciples saw this, they scolded the parents for bothering him.
Then Jesus called for the children and said to the disciples, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.”
Luke 18: 15-17 New Living Translation
Our Father, Thank you for your love and compassion towards the children and for presenting your blessing of them as a universal teaching that we can all understand. For the sake of your Kingdom, help us to, once again, become like a child with the emotions of mind and heart that are apparent in childhood and that Christianity requires – a nature of trust, simplicity and dependency. Let us not be overcome with intellectual pride, but always walk in humility. Teach us to live in the present and to be more playful like a child, free from worldly anxieties and cares. As we draw closer to you, Lord, let us put away our childishness and become more and more childlike.
In Jesus name, Amen.
