Luke 11: 1-4 New International Version
One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
He said to them, “When you pray, say:
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation.
Our Father, Thank you for teaching us what our priorities should be. Help us to always honour your holy name and to love and respect you so much that we would always desire to put the coming of your kingdom first before everything. Lead us to pray for those who govern us, that they will act from good sense and compassion, but let us never neglect to work towards the establishment of your kingdom here on earth.
Teach us to rely on you to meet our daily needs, spiritual and physical, and to be as forgiving to others as you are to us. Help us to fix our eyes on you, Lord, and keep us focused on your will that we never become distracted by the ways of the world and the evil one.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
