Raise a Hallelujah! Worship and Praise in Song

“Raise a Hallelujah” is an anthem of faith in the face of great challenge. So in the face of our current world challenge, let’s use a melody of faith to push back the fear and frustration and find a way to serve and bless!

There’s a very special story behind the writing of this song. Here’s a link to that story

Thank you to Donna from The Father’s Feet for telling me about the healing of this little boy.

Lyrics

I raise a hallelujah, in the presence of my enemies
I raise a hallelujah, louder than the unbelief
I raise a hallelujah, my weapon is a melody
I raise a hallelujah, Heaven comes to fight for me

I’m gonna sing, in the middle of the storm
Louder and louder, you’re gonna hear my praises roar
Up from the ashes, hope will arise
Death is defeated, the King is alive!

I raise a hallelujah, with everything inside of me
I raise a hallelujah, I will watch the darkness flee
I raise a hallelujah, in the middle of the mystery
I raise a hallelujah, fear you lost your hold on me!

I’m gonna sing, in the middle of the storm
Louder and louder, you’re gonna hear my praises roar
Up from the ashes, hope will arise
Death is defeated, the King is alive!

Sing a little louder (Sing a little louder)
Sing a little louder (Sing a little louder)
Sing a little louder (Sing a little louder)
Let’s sing a little louder (Let’s sing a little louder)
Sing a little louder (In the presence of my enemies)
Sing a little louder (Louder than the unbelief)
Sing a little louder (My weapon is a melody)
Sing a little louder (Heaven comes to fight for me)
Sing a little louder (In the presence of my enemies)
Sing a little louder (Louder than the unbelief)
Sing a little louder (My weapon is a melody)
Let’s sing a little louder (Heaven comes to fight for me)
Sing a little louder!!

I’m gonna sing, in the middle of the storm
Louder and louder, you’re gonna hear my praises roar
Up from the ashes, hope will arise
Death is defeated, the King is alive!
Oh, I’m gonna sing, in the middle of the storm
Louder and louder, you’re gonna hear my praises roar
Up from the ashes, hope will arise
Death is defeated, the King is alive!

I raise a hallelujah
I raise a hallelujah
I raise a hallelujah
I raise a hallelujah!

Just begin to raise your own hallelujah
I can’t do it for you
There’s a song written on your heart only you can sing
And when you sing enemies flee
When you sing prison walls come falling down
When you sing Heaven invades the earth
So just begin to lift up your hallelujah
Raise it like a banner
Raise it like a flag
Raise it in the middle of the storm
Let it rise, let it rise
Like a symphony to the King
Everything to You, Jesus
We raise it all
Sing a little louder!!

I raise a hallelujah
I raise a hallelujah
I raise a hallelujah
I raise a hallelujah
I raise a hallelujah (In the presence of my enemies)
I raise a hallelujah (Louder than the unbelief)
I raise a hallelujah (My weapon is a melody)
I raise a hallelujah (Heaven comes to fight for me

Our Father,

Help us to trust you, despite our fear, at this current time. We pray for our government whose members have the difficult task of managing this situation. Lead us to follow their advice, and soften our hearts so that we may be considerate of others as we all struggle to maintain inner peace while waiting for the situation to be under control.

Remind us to be thankful for all those working during the Corona Virus outbreak. Strengthen and bless them.

We love, praise and trust you, Lord, always.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

  1. That is one of my favorite songs. Have you listened to the version of how, why it got started? About young Jackson? It is so beautiful to see how God healed that little boy and this song was birthed through that. Great post. Hugs from your friend in Wisconsin. God bless.๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ’•

    1. Thanks so much, Donna, for the link to the film of how the song came about! I’ve replaced the previous video with that one. I didn’t know the story. Watching that film and seeing that little boy with his mum and dad, and raising his little arm to God was just wonderful. I’m crying happy tears. It’s just beautiful. Thank you. x

  2. Hmmm. Well I wrote a paragraph about your blog and it disappeared. This is how and why that song was created. And about who. Truly amazing. God bless you. Great post. Hugs again from Wisconsin. Hope this one don’t disappear. ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ’•

    1. I’ve been out most of the day with the dogs, Donna, and only just moderated the comments. That’s why you won’t have seen them. It’s confusing – usually a message comes up saying, ‘your comment is awaiting moderation’, but sometimes it doesn’t and it leaves you wondering what happened to the comment. ๐Ÿ™‚
I’m off to make the tea now and then I’ll be able to catch up on everyone else’s posts. x

      1. No, not at all Donna. It’s happened to me quite a lot.
I’ve never heard of country peach tea. I’d better wait till the virus has gone before going to the shops looking for it! ๐Ÿ™‚

      2. Yes, wait Lesley, but soon as you can, get some! It is so refreshing. Country Peach Passion by Celestial Seasonings. It is a herbal tea that is caffeine free. ๐Ÿ™‚ I use a little sweetnlow and voila, yum in a cup. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Lesley, I hope you are staying safe and well! My husband and I are on 15th day of isolation. I am a nurse so when my school closed it was critical to keep safe. I Raise a Hallelujah with you today! For our God is faithful, his arm is not to short to reach us and is hearing is not dulled to our cries for help nor to our praise. God continue to bless you and your loved ones.

    1. Jill, I was wondering why I wasn’t seeing your posts in my reader and I realised I must have accidentally unfollowed you. It’s happened before with other people … when I’m scrolling the pages on my mobile phone, the little follow/unfollow button is easily touched by mistake. I will put that right as soon as possible.
Best wishes to you and your family also, Jill. All of you keep safe and I hope this is all over soon.
I agree, God is good. I’m trusting him whatever happens. He is in control. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’–
