Jesus had been crucified, leaving His followers devastated and heartbroken. Only a few remained at the foot of the cross, including the LORD’s mother and her sister, Mary Magdalene and John. Some may have watched from a distance while others had fled in fear. Their hoped-for Messiah, the Saviour and King was dead. Yes, Jesus really had died but three days later, just as He had prophesised, He was risen to life!
When Jesus cried out His last words on the cross, “It is finished!”, He had paid the price for our salvation with His precious blood. Paying the debt of our sin was not the only reason Jesus died on the cross. Scripture tells us that the blood of Christ actually cleanses us, washing away our sins – literally changing us (1 John 1:7). Now we are reconciled to God and can come before him guilt free. No longer are we estranged from our Father and Creator and His invitation is open to everyone to enter His Kingdom, the Kingdom that Jesus taught about continually throughout His ministry on Earth. “Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him.” Luke 8:1 New International Version
What must we do to enter God’s Kingdom?
